She never forgave herself for allowing her brother/husband to devour their children and then saving Zeus only to have him gut his father and start the 11 year war (aka Titanomachy) that sent her brothers and sisters to Tartarus. Born to Uranus and Gaia, Rhea was the 7th Titan child born to the gods only Uranus kept all of Gaia's children trapped within her womb paining the goddess. Eventually, Cronus, the youngest child at the time, volunteered to set upon his father, castrating him, thereby freeing Gaia's children and setting himself up as king of the titans taking Rhea as his wife and queen. Cronus sired several children by Rhea: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, but swallowed them all as soon as they were born, since he had learned from Gaia and Uranus that he was destined to be overcome by his own child as he had overthrown his own father. But when Zeus was about to be born, Rhea sought Uranus and Gaia to devise a plan to save him, so that Cronus would get his retribution for his acts against Uranus and his own children. Rhea gave birth to Zeus in Crete, handing Cronus a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes which he promptly swallowed. Then she hid Zeus in a cave on Mount Ida in Crete to be guarded by the Kouretes. Once Zeus reached adulthood, he subdued Cronus by wile rather than force, using a potion concocted with the help of Gaia, his grandmother, to forcibly cause Cronus to vomit up Zeus's siblings. A war between younger and older gods commenced which lasted 11 years, in which Zeus is aided by the Hecatonchires and Cyclopes, who had once again been freed from Tartarus. Zeus won after a long struggle, and cast many of the Titans down into Tartarus. Rhea was one of the few Titans that was not cast into Tartarus, instead the goddess left Mount Olympus to the new realm of gods. Instead she fled to the mountain wilds of Asia Minor to escape the persecution of Cronus should he ever escape his underwold prison. {FYI; This is a mash up of all the stoires about Rhea, i know for a fact that there are many variations of her story and the story of Zeus and Cronus. Please remember, this is just for a RPG and not a college class.
